Air conditioner

Using the power of our lake in front of the hotel, we can cool and heat our rooms by ventilation. If you need help with the controls in your room, please contact our reception. On particularly hot days, we will be happy to provide you a fan.

Do you need a wheelchair-accessible room? We have a suitable room for this.
There for please select the Deluxe double room when making your reservation and let us know that you need the wheelchair-accessible room.

Baby bed

We are happy to provide a baby bed/ crib in your room.
Additional costs for the crib are €20.00 per night.

Bathrobe

And a Bath towel are provided in your room. In the spa area you can find extra large sauna towels as well. In case you would like to have the bathrobe changed we will charge 5,00 € extra.

Blinds

To control the blinds you can use the buttons in your room. Feel free to use the curtains as well, since the blinds move automatically in relation to the sunlight.

Monday to Saturday from 6:30 am to 11:00 am
on Sundays and public holidays even until 12pm.
Please contact our staff and we will be happy to lead you to your table.

Bicycle

You can reserve a bicycle for free at the reception.
Please note that we unfortunatly can not offer helmets.

Children

For families with small children, we recommend to book our family room.
There is space for up to 2 adults and 2 children up to a maximum age of 12 years. For children older than 12 years, we recommend to book an additional room, otherwise our experience has shown that the sofa bed is too small.

We kindly ask you to leave the room Monday – Saturday latest at 11 am and Sundays latest at 12 am.
To make the check out as pleasant as possible, you have the possibility to pay the bill in advance. We also ask you to hand out to us your voucher when you arrive, so we can take it into account on your invoice.

We want to let you know, that the consuming of brought along/delivered food, that smells intense is not allowed in our hotelrooms. Fo the disposal and the additional expense of cleaning, we will extra charge 15,00 €. Thank you for understanding in the name of our cleaning staff and the next hotel guest in your room.

Our fitness equiptment is located on the sixth floor in the SPA area. You can use it from 7am to 10 pm for free.

Garden

You are always warmly invited to use our hotel garden. In summer you can use our garden lounges for free. Feel free to find a shady spot under our trees or the pavillion.

HfG

The Ulm School of Design (HfG Ulm) was founded in Ulm in 1953 by, among others, Inge Aicher-Scholl, Otl Aicher and Max Bill. It is still considered the most internationally important design university after the Bauhaus. The school enjoyed an excellent international reputation and was a pioneer and role model for both future design courses and for the designer’s careers.
In our hotel you will often come across HfG products: the Ulmer chari, the Ulmer handle, the TC100 tableware and many more.

Night Entrance

At 10 pm we close our main entrance. The night entrance is located at the hotel entrance. You can open the doors by using your room card. Simply hold it next to the white sensor, which is located on the right wall. If you still have challenges, please call our reception or use the night bell. The reception is occupied 24/7.

Nonsmoking hotel/ Nonsmoking rooms

Smoking is strictly prohibited in our entire hotel and in the guest rooms. If you ignore this, we will be forced to charge you for two nights at the current daily rate. You are welcome to smoke in the smoking area outside our hotel.

We love animals.

Room cleaning
In order to conserve our resources, you have the option of foregoing daily room cleaning. Simply hang up the blue „Green Care bag“ on the outside of the room door. As a thank you, you will receive a small gift from us in the bag that night.
Room service
We would be happy to bring food or drinks to your room during our restaurant opening hours. Please note that we will charge a fee of € 8.50 per order for room service.

Our small but nice wellness area is on the 6th floor.
Here you will find a sauna, a steam bath and a saunarium.
The area is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
If you would like to take a sauna earlier, please simply ask our reception team to heat it up earlier.

You can find a safe in the wardrobe of your room.
There you can lock your valuables.
To lock simply enter a 4-digit number and press “L”.
To unlock, simply enter the 4-digit number again.

Swimming

We invite you to swim in our lake. You can find the ladder at the end of the hotel jetty. In our hotel garden weh ave an outdoor shower. Please understand that this is a natural lake which means, plants and animals feel at home in it.

The legend of the Ulm Sparrow

Once upon a time there was a proud citizenry in the imperial city of Ulm who wanted to build a church. It should be beautiful and tall. To support the roof, the builder needed long wooden beams. He sent his assistants from the city to fetch strong wood. And so they set off.

The assistants cheerfully brought over tree trunks and stacked them sideways on a cart. When they tried to pass through the city wall, it became apparent that the gate in the wall was much too narrow. The beams protruded on both sides. The assistants struggled and pushed the cart back and forth, but it was in vain: if the beams on the left were flush with the gate, they protruded even more on the right, and vice versa.

The whole city was in an uproar over this. The citizens, the city councilors and even the mayor – who actually had the answer to everything – were looking for a solution. But nothing like this had ever happened to anyone before. Even in the clever books there was no advice. There seemed to be only one solution: tear down the gate.

Just when the confusion was at its height, a small sparrow flew over the crowd. In its beak it carried a shimmering golden stalk of grain. With this he fluttered towards the archway. There, a narrow gap between the bricks offered space for a nest. To push the stalk in there, the resourceful sparrow twisted it lengthwise and pushed it in.

Then a light dawned on the people of Ulm.

In no time at all they grabbed the wooden beams and this time placed them lengthways rather than across the wagon. Then it became quiet. The vehicle started moving hesitantly. And lo and behold: cubit by cubit, piece by piece, the carriage rolled smoothly through the gate.

Then the crowd started cheering. People applauded the sparrow and held him deep in their hearts. To thank him, a monument was later erected on the roof of Ulm Minster: the figure of a sparrow with a stalk in its beak. And so the sparrow became the unofficial, but even more beloved, symbol of the city of Ulm.

The folk legend of the Ulmer Sparrow was first documented in a travel report by Carl Julius Weber from 1826. It was first described in detail in 1842 in a poem by the journalist Carl Hertzog. The local historian Otto Häcker and the historian Rudolf Biedermann researched the origins of the legend and also demonstrated that it has been changed repeatedly over the years. In the above version we have freely retold the story with its central motifs.
